The Davao del Sur State College (DDSC) Library stands as a premier center of academic excellence and innovation, committed to empowering the academic community through inclusive access to knowledge, cutting-edge resources, and transformative learning experiences.
Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), located in Digos City, was formerly a satellite campus of SPAMAST in Malita, Davao Occidental. Its journey to independence began with House Bills filed in 2016 and 2017 by Reps. Bandigan and Cagas, leading to the consolidation and approval of House Bill 6715. This bill was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte on February 21, 2019, as Republic Act 11220, officially establishing DSSC as the 112th public higher education institution in the country.
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) certified the college’s conversion on August 13, 2019. Dr. Augie E. Fuentes was appointed the first college president on September 28, 2020. By January 2021, key personnel including a librarian, library staff, and web developer were hired.
The DSSC Learning Resource Center (LRC), housed in the RLSC Building, serves as a hub for academic support, offering open-shelf access to a growing collection of instructional materials for students, faculty, and guests.

Periodicals Librarian
Meriam T. Serrano is a licensed librarian specializing in periodicals and serial publications. As the Periodicals Librarian, she manages the acquisition, organization, and accessibility of both print and electronic serial resources. Her role ensures that students, faculty, and researchers have timely access to scholarly journals, magazines, and other serials essential for academic and research success. Her dedication to upholding current and comprehensive periodical collections supports the library's mission to deliver relevant and high-quality information services.
CYNDIARELLE G. ABORDO, RL, MLIS
Sulop Extension Campus Librarian
Cyndiarelle G. Abordo, RL, MLIS is a licensed librarian with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science. She currently serves as the Librarian of the Sulop Extension Campus, where she oversees the development and management of library services tailored to the needs of students and faculty in the extension community. DSSC Benchmarks HEI Libraries in Davao, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao
To enhance its learning spaces and align with CHED requirements and international standards, Davao del Sur State College – Learning Resource Center conducted a benchmarking visit on July 8–10, 2025. The team visited top HEI libraries including Mapua MCM, UM Matina, AdDU, DNSC, CSU, USTP, and CMU. The activity focused on evaluating infrastructure, digital resources, and best practices to improve library services and support DSSC's goal of becoming globally competitive.
